ShaleNET Training Providers
The success with which the partners of this grant can provide natural gas employers with willing and able candidates relies upon the quality of training delivered. To this end, ShaleNET will implement a network of certified training providers and certified instructors who offer high-quality instruction based on pre-developed standardized curriculum approved by industry to impart knowledge and skills utilizing appropriate equipment in an environment conducive to learning. Every aspect of the training program will be routinely evaluated by employers in the natural gas industry to make certain workforce needs are met.
It is anticipated that ShaleNET will release a request for proposal for institutions interested in becoming a certified training provider in the first quarter of 2011. Please contact your regional ShaleNET director if you are interested in receiving this RFP.
When considering whether or not to apply, training providers should note that costs associated with retrofitting their facility and having instructors attain nationally-recognized certifications in order to teach ShaleNET programs are not considered reimbursable expenses under this grant. Also, dependent upon the number of training providers certified across the region as defined in this grant, it is anticipated that ShaleNET tuition funding will be available to providers for no more than one class each year per HPO. Additional details on certifying instructors and eligible cost reimbursement will be released with the RFP.
Standard curriculum for the six high priority occupations will be developed and endorsed by the industry with roll out anticipated during the second and third quarters of 2011. Prior to distribution, pilot classes will be run by WCCC and Penn College to identify and troubleshoot any instructional/technical issues that may arise.
Certified training providers and their ShaleNET-related course offerings will be posted on this site for interested candidates and employers. It is the intent of ShaleNET partners to have all certified training providers identified and offering some or all programs in the third quarter of 2011. Please check back for further updates and schedules.
