Mechatronics Engineer

Mechatronics combines the principals of mechanics, electronics, and computing. Mechatronics engineers install, calibrate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated systems. They work in the all sectors of the industry—at oil refineries, natural gas and equivalent processing plants, well location pads, sales meter points, pipelines, and compressor stations.

The responsibilities of a mechatronics engineer include:

  • Installing and troubleshooting electronic data acquisition and data transfer equipment
  • Ensuring all engineering designs and applications adhere to the local codes and industrial safety standards
  • Advising company or clients on recommended use of automated systems and specific applications

  • Work inside at plant facility or outside at well site or pipeline locations
  • May work alone or as part of a team

Typical Schedule

  • Monday - Friday
  • 10 hours a day
  • Some overtime and weekends
